    Two Different Kinds of Wiccans

    Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 11:14 AM [General]

    MM Everyone,

First, I would like to say that there was some lady on here (not giving any names, even though she gave mine out) that emailed many folks about a comment I made regarding a christian witch (again, not giving any names).

As far as the comment I made, I believe this lady read it wrong. Most people know how I feel about New Agers and real Wiccans, and that I wasn't attacking Wiccans, it was attacking many self called Wiccans who do not take their practices and religion seriously. That was the intention. There are so many Wiccans out there who do not take their religion/tradition seriously, and then there are many who do, and I couldn't be more proud. I believe that when someone becomes something, or does something, they should be "real and serious" about doing it, regardless of what it is. One cannot possibly be a serious christian, and a serious witch at the same time.

Now, I'm going to give you the two examples of Wiccans, and it lay it down like beautiful bricks. I believe a few authors have also talked about this, but I am laying down my personal opinions on here. The first kind of Wiccans (the traditionals, and they include pre-Gardnerians, including the Strega, family traditionals, traditional Gardnerians, traditional Alexandrians, British traditionals, and some solitary witches and formed covens who I know are serious and old school thinking). These witches take a lot of value in honor, a lot of value in wisdom and respect, and put a lot of weight on ancestral values that their ancestors had. Most of these type also believe that Wicca is an ancient religion, and tradition (I am not saying an unbroken line, it doesn't need to be an unbroken line to be ancient.)thats been passed down and spread about within families, and underground covens. But anyway, And I am sure there were a few solitaries also. To these old school witches, they have a different mindset. They take value in one on one teacher student teaching late at night, they take value in serious rituals at night dedicated to their gods, they feel good about being a part of something that is ancient, and honoring what their ancestors believed and knew. Sure the practices (such as ceremonial magick) to experiencing the knowledge or mythos may be different, but the knowledge is the same, and it is the knowledge that makes Wicca, not the specific means by exploring and experiencing this knowledge. Gerald Gardner knew this, why he knew it was perfectly alright to keep his oath of secrecy and put in some Solomon in the rituals. BTW, Gardner wasn't the first to incorporate ceremonial magick into the Craft. There were some Witch families and covens before Gardner's time who decided to do this for practical reasons, or make the Craft a little more structured. But anyway, many of these witches take strong value in oral teachings, regardless if its in books or on the Internet -- it is often the "how" to do something, not always the "what." Oral teachings does a lot in the witches minds. It teaches them to be humble, to be wise, to listen more, to speak less, to love, and to do the same to his/her students. All of what I said is just the tip of the ice berg, now lets move on to the other kind of Wiccan.

The second kind of Wiccan is the Neo-Wiccan, the one that I have a "small" problem with. To these Wiccans, the only thing they care about is being "enlightened with the spirit" and anything else can just be a joke and partied with. Being at one with spirit is a great mission, and I agree with this aspect, however this is not the only thing important about the Craft. To these Wiccans, its ok to make anything their God and Goddess, as long as they are enlightened, without having any honor or seriousness with their deities. They might even just come up with names or come up with icons if they wish. This is the New Age philosophy (which is Eastern), and is not the Witchcraft philosophy (which is Western and Southern). I understand that in the later period of this century the New Age has contaminated the Craft's understandings, and I am against this heavily. The New Age philsophy is "do whatever works" -- I have seen these Wiccans do online chatroom initiation rites into the Craft. I was taken by surprise, and was horrified, literally. What has the Craft turned into?? I even know of some Wiccans who use barbie dolls for their God and Goddess statues....I am serious. Also from my experience they put little emphasis on Sabbat mythos, and do not take them seriously. I have been to many rituals, and so many of them were a joke, with the leaders all stumbling around, joking, carrying on, and not taking anything seriously, or talking about things outside the ritual, or joking around when our sacred circle was being cast. Where does the silliness end, hm? Also, most of these types also believe Wicca is a brand new religion from the 50's, or even 70's for that matter. Hopefully I made my points loud and clear everyone.

Blessings with love, and be real.

    Ok,

In all honestly, I do not understand why a lot of the Wiccan/Pagan community even thinks they have a rash chance of getting along with the christians in this heavily christian influenced society. A few things to consider and think about:

    1. one of the biggest fundamentals of being a christian is being "a good person" to where so many people want people to know they are good people by going to church or putting a cross on. This is one way of "converting" people to christianity, is by letting them know that "to be a good person is to be christian." When Witches come along and they also show they are good people, (yet also offers a practical faith with many rewards) this angers the christians, and makes them believe that we're not only providing competition to them in the "good" area and slapping them in the face, but also they see it as us indirectly converting or drawing people away from the christian religion to witchcraft, which is the church's single greatest enemy. So, for this reason alone it is best that we keep to ourselves.

    2. In order to be accepted in the heavily christian influenced society, we must dilute our practices and philosophies in accordance to what is deemed "moral" by the christians. in order for them to accept us as "good" or "normal." Why do that? Why should be dishonor our ancient practices, customs, and natural philosophies to fit in with the christians? They killed our pagan ancestors if they did not convert...so now we should dishonor our ancestors and trying to side with the christians. Sure they are not the same christians as the crusaders or witch hunters...however that long line of witch hunts is "associated" with the christians - so to be a christian is to associate yourself and become part of that horrifying history of murdering and slaughter. Anyway, why do that? I personally say that the Craft should be back underground as it was in the past, and be peaceful in secrecy. I mean...is a christian going to believe a witch yelling out "I don't worship satan, I'm a good person, please accept me for being a witch." I mean, come on. Think of how rewarding it would be if we were underground again - we wouldn't have to dilute (belittle), disrespect, or dishonor our practices, our customs, our mentalities, etc. Sure, we have to survive with the christians in societty, but it would be wise to keep our religion in secret...which would in all honesty also make our religion more meaningful to us on a deep level. That in itself is one of the greatest rewards offered. I could honestly care less what the christians think of me or what I do. Because...they wouldn't understand, and "what people do not understand they fear...and what they fear they hate...and what they hate...they destroy" (unknown). Now look at their history and tell me I am wrong. Just imagine us in secrecy again...late at night, us putting on our cloaks....traveling along the woods late at nighttime where noone will see us, then practicing our Craft. And thats just a teeny tiny tip of the spiritual and mental experience. Why be so gunho and militant about making Wicca one of the largest world religions in a few years? Why? Its not only unwise and a complete waist of spiritual/mental time, it will cause even more deaths and destruction, to a point where Wiccan enemies will actually take the time to come looking for us. Do we really want that? If we sit down and shut up, they will leave us alone, since we're no longer being their competitors anymore. Then we don't have to worry. Our society is not mature enough to handle witches and occultists. Well I think I made valid points. I am not the smartest bulb in the world, but I do believe strongly in the points that I made.

    Blessed be.

    what I need...

    Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 12:18 AM [General]

You know, it would really make my week if a girl just emailed me and said something like, "hey I saw your profile and I was wandering if we could get to know one another." Why can't girls do that?

You know how meaningful that would be? words alone wouldn't describe the feeling. People always seem to shy away from what is meaningful or deep, or what people want or need. Thats beyond my understanding, because I always try to make people smile, or make their day, or week by doing things that will make them smile when they go to bed. I don't do it because it makes me feel better. I do it because I actually "want" that person to feel good inside. I strive everyday to be real and deep, and it seems that many girls shy away from these guys and go after guys who are jerks and not real or deep.

Sighs, I honestly don't know what to say. I'm just letting out my feelings.

    something I wrote years ago...

    Saturday, June 14, 2008, 08:54 PM [General]

The Poet on the Other Side:

A poet, there staring at me

A look resembling that of fire

What is it that she sees

her eyes revealing that of desire.

    She stands, still staring

I felt her strength, her power

    My spirit collapse, so overbearing

Why I surrender, looks before a tower.

She looks down at me, taking my hand

I look up at her, seizing her soul

Taking it in, forces myself to stand

A question was asked, then it was told.

    She asked why, why?

Does it have to be today

Why does this bring me to cry

Why does he love me this way.

    She clinches her tight fist

Looks up, screams into the thick sky

Releasing all her power, could not resist

Knowing with her heart, must say goodbye.

Her soul is not mine to steal

Mine is all open and free

Our feelings, she knows cannot reveal

She knows my eyes, stating I love thee.

Our world is all the same

Yet divided by a solid stone wall

A wall, I cannot play this game

What can I do, to make this crash and fall.

With the magick I bring within

I charge toward the solid line

That separates us of our very livin

That can be destroyed only by the divine.

With all my strength I fought

Knowing it took both of us to win

In the aftermath a lesson was taught

Holding back she was, our love could not begin.
